Dear Parents,
Your child’s report card is in this week’s Friday folder. Ten students also have certificates for Academic Excellence, congratulations! Please sign the envelope and return it with your child on Monday.
Michele joined the 100% Subtraction Club last Friday. Congratulations, Michele!
Chloe has completed the language arts section of Study Island and will move on to math. Congratulations, Chloe!
We enjoyed Matt’s POW week and presentation. We will not have a POW next week.
Catholic Schools’ Week begins next week. We are looking forward to the fun activities the committee has planned for us!
Thank you, Mr. Szymczak for our copies of the photos taken at our Epiphany celebration! I like having visual reminders of all of us enjoying ourselves, and I’m sure the students and parents appreciate it, too.
Our SHAgala basket is now brimming with goodies. Thank you for your contributions!
Mrs. Velguth helped the children work on their SHAgala project this week. Thank you Mrs. Velguth, it’s going to be gorgeous! Mrs. Szymczak was there to take pictures; most of your children love to have their pictures taken. Thank you, Mrs. Szymczak!
We received and responded to letters from our new math pen pals at CMU. We appreciate being included in this project!
This marking period, the additional reading requirements, for LA, will be different. The students will be presenting a book report, which will fulfill half of the requirement. Yesterday, Mrs. Reinke modeled the presentation for them. They were also given a sheet explaining the requirements and the rubric on which they will be graded. The book report will be due Monday, February 27. As explained to them, the book does not have to be from the AR list. It does have to be at their approximate reading level and approved by me. The other half of the requirement, for the marking period, will be testing on one AR book. They took the Star test, yesterday. I will be giving them their new reading level soon, so they will have plenty of time to pick a second book. I had a few students who took AR tests on Monday; these will count for extra credit. The requirement is to read the books during the marking period, which just started on Monday.
I’ll be giving the students their Pizza Hut certificates, for their additional AR testing last marking period, as soon as is humanly possible. It has been an exceptionally busy week.
Have a wonderful weekend! God bless us all.
Sincerely,
Jill LaChance
