Dear Parents,
Today marks the end of the third marking period. It seems as though it was just yesterday I met all of you at the open house! Both the kids and I have learned a lot so far this year and had some fun along the way. The Doll Hospital will be coming next Wednesday, March 27th. This is a memorable event for your child in first grade and I still remember doing that when I was this age!
This week Sue Ellen Owen also came in for another Art Reach lesson. Since we only have art once a week, it is nice for the kids to be able to have additional exposure to art.
Classroom Materials-I have been asked by a few parents to put together a list of some supplies that our classroom is running low on. I really appreciate the offer! Some items we are in need of are Clorox wipes, markers, pencils, plain white paper, and pencil cap erasers.
Pop Can Drive-we have accumulated quite a bit of money for our pop can drive. We only have one more week to collect!
Student of the Week-This week’s student of the week was Jacqueline Morton. She made a poster full of pictures of her and her family and also brought in rice krispie treats that were dyed her favorite color: purple! Next week’s student of the week is Nate Olson!
Math-We are moving slowly through chapter 8. We are still working on ways to add and this week we have focused on doubles (4+4, 6+6). Next week we will be discovering ways to subtract.
Language Arts-This week we have been working on common nouns and have discussed/practiced distinguishing the difference between people, places and things. We also wrote short stories about our nonfiction story about rabbits.
Religion-This week we went to watch Shadow Stations at the church. We also discussed each station and the importance of Jesus’ journey to the hill on which he was crucified.
The purple sheet in the Friday folders is for a popcorn sale for Miles for Miracles. On the sheet there is no listed price and was announced that each bag is $1.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss DeNoyelles
