Room 101

January 13, 2012

Dear Parents:

We have had another great week in room 101. Here are the highlights:

Reading and Wring: The students and I have been busy doing some testing in reading this week. They have also been writing and typing their gingerbread stories.

Cursive:We started writing in cursive for the first time this week and everyone is doing a great job already. We have learned to write a lowercase k, l, i, u, and h. Starting next week, we will be adding cursive handwriting to the homework packet.

Math: We continue to work on two-digit subtraction, with and without regrouping. We will be having a test next week on the chapter.

SHAGALA:   CMU Basket
Our classroom theme basket for the annual Shagala project is anything CMU. Suggestions include: CMU sweatshirts/tee shirts, magnets, cups, pencils, key chains, flags, ornaments, hats, decals, etc. Thanks you!! If you are able to donate anything for the basket, that would be great.

**If you're thinking about attending SHAgala on February 11 but don't know who to sit with, just indicate on your ticket request form that you would like to sit with our grade/class table.  Get to know other parents, have a special Valentine's weekend, and support SHA at the same time!   You might also enjoy volunteering at the event.  You get to visit with parents and attendees and find out if SHAgala is something you might want to attend in the future, and we ALWAYS need volunteers! Check the elementary newsletter for how to sign up!

Funny things we said: Ms. DeNoyelles and I heard another second grade classic comment this week! One of our students had to have their “independicks” checked out for fear of a burst or rupture! I’m happy to report- we were the only one’s bursting that day- with laughter! Second graders are awesome!!!!

Reminders:
·        We have a ½ day of school on January 19th updated 1/17, halfday is now 1/20

About Mrs. Hansen

My name is Kelly Hansen, and I have been teaching, on and off, at Sacred Heart since l989.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Central Michigan University. My experience includes 3 years of First Grade and 3 years of Elementary P.E.  I am currently teaching second grade, and loving it!!

My interest in our school dates way back to my high school days, and I am very proud of the fact that I am an alumni.  It has been fun to watch my former classmates have children, and also send them to Sacred Heart.

My husband, Todd Hansen, has made a career in the business world.  I also have three daughters that either attend or graduated from SHA; Karly, Erica, and Sara.
