Dear Parents:
The time is just flying! Here are some highlights from the week, and some reminders:
Field Trip: On Monday, May 24th we walked to downtown Mt.Pleasant to try and locate the Bronze legends figures. Then we went to Dairy Queen for an ice cream treat. The kids truly enjoyed themselves, and were thanking me for taking them as we were returning home. Many students said it was the “funnest” field trip we had been on. When I reminded of them of the others, visiting the school house and homestead, watching maple syrup be made, field day, Learn to Skate, etc; then they had a hard time choosing.
I bring this up to say thank-you for supporting any extra trips that we have taken this year. It is wonderful to take kids away from the classroom for learning opportunities, and I feel they children have benefitted from each trip we have gone on.
Read In: We enjoyed a final read-in this week. Many students have picked up their reading goals this last marking period, in effort to attain certain prize levels. Sometimes we teachers do whatever it takes to get kids to read! I’m noticing a big improvement in students choosing books to read, and reading during free times. Yeah!!
The library will be meeting with us next week on the summer reading program, and that is also about getting kids to read! (They even have a program for adults, which my recent graduate is excited about. She has finished her “teen” days at the library, and will graduate to the adult summer reading program! Scary!)
Anyway, I encourage you to become involved with the summer reading program, it’s fantastic!!
Math: We finished Chapter 12, multiplication and division this week and took the test. We also took a cumulative test over the year. See Friday folders for results of both!
Volunteers: We remembered volunteers from our school this week, and while many of you work and couldn’t attend Mass, I want to thank you for all that you do to help run our classrooms and schools. I know that all I needed to do was ask, and someone jumped in to help out! You are a fantastic bunch of parents, and we truly couldn’t do our job as well with out you!
We were also very lucky in having grandma again this year. We will be making her a card next week, and she plans to be back again next year!
Cleaning: Each year we do a thorough cleaning of the classroom, and pack up and place everything in the hallways. If you have any extra cleaning supplies-rags/sponges/buckets/etc., please send in with your child next week. Please only send items that you do not need returned.
Thank-you!
Please have your child clean out their backpacks tonight, and every night next week. Items from their desks and the room will be coming home, and we’ll need the extra space in their backpacks! Thank-you!
