November 27, 2013
Well, we’ve certainly had a very short week of school this week! Here are the highlights:
Ø We read several version of the first Thanksgiving story, including a story of the Mayflower, a rebus story, and a story with a Native American boy named Running Bear. We also made our own Mayflower Boats today! We also managed to enjoy some silent reading time during our read-in.
Ø We made cinnamon bread today, and ate it for our snack-delicious! A special thank-you to all parents that provided items for our Thanksgiving projects! Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!
Ø Look to turn in November Book-it next week. The December one’s are in this week’s folder.
Ø We are accepting donations for the Christmas Outreach stocking hanging in our classroom.
Ø Our Christmas party plans are underway, and just an FYI: We will be having lunch in our classroom, during the party. Your child may bring in their cold lunch, have hot lunch (grilled cheese), or eat the pizza that will be provided by some of the moms. The party will start at 11:00, and be finished by 12:30. Feel free to stop by!

About Mrs. Hansen
Hello Second graders and families! Welcome to room 101!
I would like to introduce myself. I am Mrs. Kelly Hansen, and this is my 8th year of teaching second grade at SHA. I have also spent time in First grade, and in the gym teaching grades 1 – 6 in PE.
I have been married for 25 years to Todd Hansen. Todd has had a career in the business world, and currently works for a company called Bolthouse Farms. We have three daughters; Karly (21) a junior at CMU; Erica (18) a senior at SHA; and Sara (16) a junior at SHA.
I have a strong connection and family ties to Sacred Heart, as I am an alumni, class of 1982! We are having our 30 year class reunion this year! (This also makes me very old!) My father graduated in 1959, and my grandfather in 1927! That makes my children fourth generation attendees/graduates!
I can’t wait to get to know this year’s group of students and parents. I want you to know that you can contact me with any concerns, in whatever method is best for you. My contact information is listed below, and your child matters to me-they are not just my job. I want to do what is best for them, and make this year one they will remember with fondness.
