Religious Education (RE)
The Sacred Heart Parish Religious Education program is developed for children in K-12 grades who attend local public schools
Classes for Kindergarten – 6th Grade Students are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. in Sacred Heart Academy’s Elementary School. We use a textbook series called “Blessed Are We” published by Silver Burdett Ginn. This series is approved by the Diocese of Saginaw Curriculum Guidelines.
Our goal is to assist parents by supporting and supplementing their efforts to foster faith development in their children.
A group of very dedicated adults (some with teen assistants) serve as Catechists (teachers) for this program. They use their time and talents preparing and implementing lessons which lovingly share the Good News of Jesus with our young ones. We also meet a few times throughout the year for planning and in-service sessions. The Diocese provides several opportunities for our Catechists to update, strengthen and renew their own faith formation so they are better able to meet the needs of their students.
Junior and Senior High School aged students meet together one Sunday each month for Religious Education Sessions. These sessions follow an informal workshop style facilitated by a team of caring adults. Through a variety of activities, discussions and experiences, teens learn to relate to and live by their Catholic Faith.
7th & 8th grade students meet from 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
9th – 12 graders gather from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Both groups’ sessions are held at THE BIG HOUSE.
(305 S. Franklin – use the Illinois St. entrance)
